FuzzyInk Mustache Cookie Cutter Set

I literally squealed when I found my mustache cookie cutter set from Fuzzy Ink arrived in the mail this past week.  My kids were so excited that they couldn’t wait to make cookies with them.  They are really quite cute.

This set comes with three different mustache shapes including, my son’s favorite, a handlebar mustache.  They measure about 4 inches by 1.25 inches and made of 100% stainless steel, so they should last a good long time.  As far as cleaning goes, I just popped them into the dishwasher and they came out as sparkling as the day I got them.  I like the stainless steel design and prefer it over plastic.  Plastic is not only less durable, but also may contain BPA or other harmful chemicals.

Cookie made with mustache cookie cutter

Josh wearing a mustache cookie. Yes, I have taught him to not play with his food, but these are just too cute to resist!

They performed admirably as cookie cutters.  They do not have intricate detailing and tight recesses that trap cookie dough and mess up the finished look of the cookies.  Nothing frustrates more about baking.  There is probably a way to avoid this, but I’m not much of a baker.  I leave that to Daniel, my oldest son.  These cookie cutters are simple and cute.  The lack of sophisticated details means that you can use your imagination when you decorate them.

My oldest son, is quite the baker and couldn’t wait to make some mustache cookies.  Of course, we endured his continual mustache puns.  When he finished baking them, he said “I mustache you a question?  Do you like my cookies?”  It’s an old pun, but I couldn’t resist a giggle.  Of course, my younger son, Josh, is also a cut-up, could not resist wearing one and making old cartoon references.

Father’s Day is coming up and I don’t see how any dad could resist these awesome, uniquely male, cookies!  If you throw a Movember awareness party or a retro cartoon party, these cookies would be sure to draw some comments!

While the package does include a basic sugar cookie recipe, Daniel has a favorite that he prefers to make his own sugar cookie recipe.

Mustache cookie cutter set and cookies

The cookies look great! Daniel did decorate them with decorator’s sugar, but that does not show well in the photo.

Almond Sugar Cookie Recipe

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup cane sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure almond extract
  • Decorator’s sugar

Pre-heat oven to 350

Mix all the dry ingredients and set aside.  Combine butter and sugar with an electric mixer.  Add eggs and extract.
Fold in flour mixture and combine until it’s well mixed.

Refrigerate your dough for about an hour.
Sprinkle a work surface and rolling-pin with flour.  Roll dough out to about 1/4 of an inch and cut with Mustache cookie cutters.  Sprinkle with decorator’s sugar if using.  Bake for about 8-20 minutes.  Allow them to cool completely and decorate with your favorite icing.

If you buy any item baring the Movember and Sons logo, including the mustache cookie cutters set, Fuzzy Ink will donate $5 directly to the Movember Foundation.  Are you familiar with Movember, a global men’s health movement? Movember is “mustache November.”  Every November is Men’s Health Awareness month.  It focuses on testicular and prostate cancer in particular.  Did you know that 80% of men who live to 80 years old will get prostate cancer?  Our kids’ schools here have celebrated it for the last couple of years.  The kids, who are too young to grow their own facial masterpieces wear fake mustaches.  Many of my male friends also honor the month.  They face November 1st with a bare lip.  Those that have existing mustaches shave them off.  They do not shave their mustache for the entire month.  They groom it, but they don’t shave it.  The Movember foundation raises money for education and research and they support their partners including the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG.

Speaking of mustache accessories and clothing,  you should check out the rest of the Fuzzy Ink store.  I love T-Rex mustache T-shirt, but I got a real snicker out of the Mario Plumber sticker.  Fuzzy Ink also carries mustache-themed hoodies, prints, iPhone cases, belts, hats and buttons.  With Father’s Day right around the corner, you should check out Fuzzy Ink for a complete line of unique male-oriented gifts.  AND not only will you be getting dad something he probably can’t find anywhere else, but, depending on the item you buy,  you will also be supporting a cause that is near-and-dear to his heart.

  1. These are too cute!! You could go the standard look and use black/brown frosting with one of those tips that will create a grassy look which resembles hair. OR you could have fun with polka dotting and striping them in all colors!

  2. I can picture frosting them with white and/or black frosting. I also wonder if you could stick a skewer through them up to your face easier.

  3. I think my grand kids that would be helping would as usual like all kinds of decorations on cookies they are ever creative and you never know what they can come up with but it will be cute or funny

  4. I could see them as a decoratoin on a cake that has a face or two. Oh, or find a good stiff cookie recipe and put sticks in them. People could hold them up to their faces.

  5. Chocolate frosting. Or maybe white frosting and crystal sprinkles in different colors for different color mustaches.

  6. I enjoy your site and I follow your site and all the reviews you post you have interesting things to say and interesting sweepstakes one of my favorite places to come each day Thaks

  7. I would make all colors of mustaches young to old, black, red, salt and peppered, and come up with stuff like cutting short strips of rope licorice to make it look like hair on the cookie 🙂
