Kiss Naturals DIY Lava Lip Gloss Kit Review and Giveaway
My daughter and I had a lot of fun playing with the Kiss Naturals DIY Lava Lip Gloss Kit. It’s really a cool kit if you have a crafty kid that enjoys making their own cosmetics. My daughter aspires to work in the fashion industry, so I got this kit with her in mind.
The Kiss Naturals Lip Gloss Making Kit comes with enough product to make eight tubes of gloss, including 4 different colors of glycerin, 2 bottles of flavored essential oils, a bottle of castor oil and a bottle of safflower oil. You also get a dropper to transfer the oils from the bottles to the lip gloss tubes.
Things We Loved about the Kiss Naturals DIY Lava Lip Gloss Making Kit
Do you want to know what I really LOVE about this kit? It’s all natural. The bright colors look deceiving, but they are actually vegetable coloring. The red and pink glycerin get their deep color from beet juice powder. The orange hue comes from beta-carotene – the same source that carrots get their bright color from. The green color comes from curcumin is also naturally occurring and partly responsible for turmeric spice’s color.
Even the flavors are natural. It comes with two essential oils for flavoring – orange or grapefruit.
We prefer to use all-natural ingredients if we possibly can in our home, so I am very pleased to give the Kiss Naturals Lip Gloss Making Kit to my daughter. I don’t have to worry about toxic chemicals and she learns early that natural beauty can work, too.
How to Use the Kiss Naturals DIY Lava Lip Gloss Kit
It is so easy to use that we were able to make a tube of lip gloss in under 8 minutes the first time using it. It’s so easy!
- Remove the ball from the roller tube
- Fill the tube to 1/3 full with colored glycerin.
- Fill the remaining 2/3 with Safflower and Castor Oil
- Add a few drops of essence oil
- Re-seal the tube and shake to combine
The glycerin floats around in the oil and looks like little miniature lava lamps. My daughter especially liked that.
Of course, my daughter wants to experiment. She mixed her flavors and plans on mixing the colors next. Even the box encourages creativity and can be used as a shadow memory box. In addition to helping kids thinking creatively, re-using the box is better for the environment.
What was the most fun? Wearing it of course! My daughter just had to try it right off the bat. She plans on making tubes as gifts for her friends and buying kits for her friends that enjoy making their own beauty stuff. I agree with her that it’s the perfect gift for a pre-teen or young teen girl.
Other Notes of Interest: While playing with the kit, we noticed that the glycerin is pretty thick. You have to squeeze the bottle with some amount of force to extract enough into the lip gloss tube. While the kit comes with a dropper, I found it more efficient to simply pour the safflower and castor oils. If you choose to you this method with your own kit, pour carefully or use a small funnel.
If you would like to get this kit, you can Buy it on Amazon, get it from their website, or see if a retailer near you carries Kiss Naturals. Be sure to check out their Facebook page and their Etsy Shop, too.
