It’s a New Year and, like most people, I’m thinking about changes I want to make.  Most of mine are health related.  I had some blood work done at the end of the year and my cholesterol was high.  That’s odd for a vegetarian, so in addition to watching what I eat, I have made the resolution to:

  1. Lose weight.  It’s a great way to lower cholesterol.
  2. Drink fewer diet drinks.  They are loaded with artificial sweeteners.  While they are calorie free, I am trying to go with a more natural diet.
  3. Drink less coffee.  I love coffee, however, I simply have to have a ton of cream with it.  Cream is high in calories and cholesterol.  Therefore, I should probably avoid it in order to achieve both the overall goal of losing weight and lowering my numbers.
  4. Exercise more often.  Too many times, I find myself just sitting in front of the computer.  Yes, I am working, but it’s taking a toll.  My backside is getting “too big for my britches” as my grandma used to say.  I guess it’s time to activate that dormant gym membership and get back into my yoga classes again.
  5. Incorporate more healthy foods.  I am a vegetarian, but many times, I find myself eating convenience foods and junk foods.

This past week, I was sent two Sencha Green Tea Shots from ITO EN.  In Japan, Sencha means Green Tea.  The samples I received were Oolong and Sencha.

The Sencha and Oolong tea shots are unsweetened and have a very bold flavor.  It’s unlike the green and oolong teas I have had in bags that I make myself.  Those are usually very mild and have even, on occasion tasted almost like water.  Personally, I prefer the bolder tea in these shots.  I did add a little Stevia to sweeten it up a bit, however.  These Sencha shots from IT EN were strong, bold and invigorating.  It was like wake-up juice in a shot!  The Oolong wasn’t as strong as the Sencha, so if you prefer something milder, that would probably be the one for you.

  1. I stay hydrated and eat lots of organic foods. Most importantly I read the labels on anything purchased and if it’s unhealthy it stays at the store.

  2. I drink lots of water, use olive oil for cooking,and eat wheat bread. I wanted to let you know that the twitter name for them is wrong should be ITO_EN without the V. I found them and did add them on twitter.

  3. my stay healthy tip is to eat clean. no processed food at all, make everything with as few ingredients as you can from scratch but to eat whole real foods.

  4. I have a smoothie in the morning and then I drink herbal tea the rest of the day except meals I drink soy milk. Thank you for a delicious giveaway. .

  5. I spend one day preparing meals ahead of time and freezing them. I know its little but I would rather have that than fast food

  6. Get up and move! Do something, anything, but stop sitting around! And cut out (or cut way back on) soda.

  7. I eat clean, drink plenty of water and do some form of exercise on a daily basis.

  10. Green tea is great! A healthy lifestyle isn’t as much a choice as it is a desire to stay fit & healthy to live longer & with less pain so that I can watch my grand babies grow up!
